Established in 2002, we have bought, sold, developed and operated real estate on Ko Yao Noi. Our claim to fame is establishing Koyao Island Resort in 2001, followed by Six Senses Yao Noi in 2007 and, most recently, 9 Hornbills Tented Camp. On a smaller scale we were instrumental in acquiring land plots for private projects on the island, among them Eagles Nest and Villa Lydia.

Life on Ko Yao Noi

Activities include kayaking, snorkelling, diving, sailing, fishing, jungle treks and day trips to the spectacular islands around, above all Ko Hong, the stunning rocks facing the island. Local restaurants serve healthy Thai food, fresh fruit and vegetables are plentiful, and the island has a 7-Eleven, ATMs, a bank and a hospital.
Location
Ko Yao Noi and Ko Yao Yai are a pair of large islands in the middle of Phang Nga Bay, equidistant from Phuket, with its international airport, shopping, hospitals, golf and marinas, and the Krabi mainland. Ko Yao Noi has around 8,000 inhabitants and is one of the largest of an archipelago of 44 islands. A 21 km ring road circles it, with concrete roads covering most of the island.
The island sits at latitude 8 degrees north and enjoys a tropical climate with year-round high temperatures and fairly little rainfall. From May to July and again in September and October the monsoon winds refresh the island with evening gusts, and the odd downpour is possible. Rubber, seafood, rice, palm oil and coconuts are the traditional sources of income, though tourism now plays a far larger economic role.
Ko Yao Noi received the World Legacy Award for Destination Stewardship from Conservation International and National Geographic Traveler for the eco-friendly homestay programmes run by its residents. While development is accelerating, the islands remain a quiet refuge far removed from the crowds of Phuket.
